Physical Education Participation: Applies to anyone participating in a Physical Education Course

As part of the Dufferin-Peel Anti-Bullying Initiatives, students were invited to create a poster illustrating the theme of kindness. Two of Gonzaga's Grade 11 students, Earvin Tio and Wendy Zhang, won this contest. Their beautiful design will be displayed in all Dufferin-Peel schools. See their design below. Flash Mob Forms To Stop Bullying

There was a mob at St. Aloysius Gonzaga Secondary School on Monday. Not to worry, though. It was the good kind — a flash mob.

Students at the school were surprised by the flash mob, which was created and performed by their fellow students, teachers and administrators. It was held to kick off Bullying Prevention Week, which continues this week.

The four-minute long performance was to the song Some Nights by Fun. The event was organized in part by Safe@Gonzaga, a group of students and staff dedicated to spreading a message of anti-bullying, respect and empowerment to the school's 1,900 students. The group is led by child and youth worker Patricia Raposo, guidance counsellor Lori Zanatta and teacher Daniella Gizzi.

"This is Gonzaga's seventh annual school-wide campaign and, regardless of the topic, the message is always one of respect, empathy and acceptance," said Raposo.

Principal Laura Green and some of the other administrators also got in on the fun. "Gonzaga is a safe place to learn, work and grow and Safe@Gonzaga is a big part of helping foster this great school," said Green.
